Introducing the new Playlist Editor and other new features Last updated on 2007-10-11
We just finished a major upgrade, bringing you the new Playlist Editor and improvements to the File Manager
What's new?
* We totally redesigned the Playlist Editor so you can drag-and-drop files to rearrange them, locate files by folder or search, and instantly insert tickers, live TV, and other types of content. You can also choose the start/end date, start/end time, and days of the week for every ad. (Multimedia > Playlists)
* We made it much easier to apply Playlists, and eliminated all the confusing stuff about scripts and campaigns.
* We expanded the File Manager so you can see virtually everything in one place, including SmartPages and Reports. You can also see where files are being used with the Inspect feature, or remove them from use with the Deactivate feature. To make it easier to get rid of old files, a "lock" icon shows you which ones are being used.
* We partnered with AccuWeather so you can display weather and news content by selecting it from the Playlist Editor. Contact us for pricing or to add this feature to your account.
Known issues:
* In the Playlist Editor, you can't change the order of existing loops or edit the description of an existing playlist. You also can't edit the options for things like Live TV and Website URLs once you've inserted them, although you can just drag a new entry on top of them to change the settings. These issues will be fixed in an upcoming release.
* Some of the new settings in the Playlist Editor require FireCast OS 4.0, which will be released in November. This includes the option for "Days of the Week" in all types of playlists, the settings for Start/End Date and Start/End Time in ordered playlists, and the ability to specify the Ticker source from the Playlist Editor. However, we will also provide a remote update with these new features for those using FireCast OS 3.5.3 or later, which should be available in late October.
How to enable the new features:
* If your account only has the original login (and there are NO additional users who login using their email address), the features will appear automatically.
* If your account has multiple users created, your account administrator will need to enable the new or updated features in Admin > Roles & Permissions > Edit Roles or Admin > Users > Edit Users.
Bugs corrected in this update:
* Permissions can be removed from a role after it was initially created.
* Permissions for the File Manager allow you restrict access to individual features.
